The Shady Porch: Zipper Pull - Cell Phone Charm

Zipper Pull - Cell Phone Charm

The other day a good friend of mine asked for ideas for favors for her Bible study group. Hopefully, something that would tie into the lesson. They're doing the Beth Moore Bible Study of the book of Daniel. The main goal of the Daniel study is to teach us to "develop alarms to Babylon's charms." So I thought what better way to remember the goal than to put a zipper pull charm on your Bible cover or handbag? You could use it for a cell phone charm too!

cell phone lanyards (10 per pkg)
2 inch eye pins
2 inch head pins
metal coated cross beads
bag of 6/0 seed bead mixes floral dreams
Smiley face beads
Rounds nose pliers*
side cutter pliers*

*Both pliers are part of a jewelry pliers kit (set of 4 pliers) you can purchase for around $15. All supplies were available at Hobby Lobby.

(Right-Left) Before and after building of smiley face charm
Take an eye pin and add 2 seed beads, a smiley face and 2 more seed beads. Using the cutter pliers trim about 1/2 of the remaining wire and then using the round nose pliers create a closed loop.   Set aside.
(Right-Left) steps to build cross portion of charm

Connection between the smiley face and cross charms
Now take a head pin and and add a metal coated cross bead and then 2 seed beads on top. Again using  the cutter pliers trim the remaining wire in half. Then using the round pliers create another circle loop but before you close it, attach it to the bottom loop of the smiley face charm.

Open jump ring on lanyard to
 attach the charm
Your charm is now ready to attach to the lanyard. Using the round nose pliers open the jump ring on the lanyard and thread the eye on the eye pin charm onto the jump ring, feeding it around until it is attached.  Easy peasy and really cute too!
