|One of my family's Top Five Favorites!|
When I was growing up my dad worked for Kraft Foods, which was good since we were a cheese lovin' family! This recipe came from the Velveeta box back in the day. Before I share this, I do know there are some that don't like velveeta and there are homemade velveeta recipes, which I will probably try at some point, but for now I'm giving you the recipe I grew up eating and loving!
Brown hamburger, drain fat. Add onion and pepper, cook until onion is translucent.
Add pesto, garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste and diced tomatoes to hamburger mix.
While the sauce simmers, cook mostaccioli according to directions. Drain.
In a 9 x 13 inch pan, layer: meat sauce, mostaccioli, sliced Velveeta cheese. Repeat.
Bake at 350 ° for 20-30 minutes or until heated through. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Note - If the cheese is getting too brown, place an aluminum foil sheet over it for the remaining bake time
Add Parmesan cheese to each serving, if desired. Makes 10-12 servings. (See shortcuts below!)
