Slow Cooker Spiced Apple Cider

1/2 gallon apple cider
1 orange cut in half
1/4 c. brown sugar, optional

Spice Pouch
  •    1 t. Allspice
  •    1 1/2 t. Cloves, whole
  •    2 or 3 Cinnamon sticks
  •    1 t. Nutmeg
  1. Place the spices [cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice] in a paper coffee filter and tie it with a piece of twine to make a pouch, now the spices can be easily removed from the hot cider and it eliminates having to strain it.

  1. In a medium-large crock, add all of the ingredients - spice pouch, apple cider, brown sugar and orange halves (float cut side down).
  2. Cover and cook on High for 1-2 hours. Remove spice pouch and oranges before serving.
To add a festive presentation - Add a few floating fresh orange slices to the cider just before serving.
