Homemade Stove Top Macaroni and Cheese

No one ever gets too old to enjoy the childhood favorite, Macaroni and Cheese. Today, I am sharing a Homemade Stove Top Macaroni and Cheese recipe that is nearly as easy to prepare as any box brand, but without the 'mystery powder cheese.' It is as good as any baked version and will make your busy weeknight menu a little easier. It's sure to be a family-pleaser, too!

Ingredients:
1 lb box of macaroni
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Swiss
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
2 t. Dijon mustard
1/2 t. black pepper
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream

Directions:
Prepare macaroni according to package directions. Drain and transfer to serving bowl. While macaroni is hot, stir in the sour cream.

While the macaroni cooks, pour the milk into medium saucepan and cook on high until hot, but not boiling. Stir the cheddar and Swiss cheese into the scalded milk. Once that is incorporated, stir in the Dijon mustard and the pepper. Simmer on low until the cheese is melted.

In medium skillet - heat bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese until the mix turns a golden brown.

Pour the cheese sauce over the macaroni, mix well. 


Serving Dish of Homemade Stove Top Macaroni and Cheese


Finally, spread the browned bread crumbs over the macaroni and cheese and serve while warm.
