Apple-Crisp Baked Apples

Apples and Autumn go hand-in-hand like watermelon and summer! We are blessed with an apple tree that regularly produces bountifully, and we have enjoyed the harvest this year: fresh off the tree, fried and served with homemade biscuits for breakfast, Slow Cooker Apple Crisp, Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake, and sliced with Creamy Peanut Butter Dip
Today, I will share an easy recipe that is both sweet and good for you...Apple Crisp Baked Apples. Cored, then loaded with a brown sugar, oat, and pecan stuffing - the same combination I used on my Apple Crisp - these sweet treats are really good.

Porch Parade #15...Autumn Inspiration

I rarely do roundups, but I find so many great things - wonderfully inspiring, smile-worthy things - each day that I thought I would share some of them with you from time-to-time, so I've resurrected the Porch Parade...just a revamped version. I hope that you are equally inspired and entertained.

Since the calendar now says it is officially Fall, I thought I would take the time to share some of my favorite things about this time of year. I hope you are as inspired as I am to taste all the flavors, enjoy all the sights, and bring some of the season home for the entire family to enjoy. Happy Fall, Y'all!

Hey...glad you're here!
We really rocked into Fall at last week's party! There were over 20 projects pertaining to Fall....wreaths, banners, decor, Halloween, and pumpkins: real, fake, and baked! What a way to kick off this new season!
I think there is truly something for everyone at the party...new recipes, money-saving and decorating tips, stuff for everyone from the kids to the fashion-minded. I love it when the projects range from serious to kooky! Keep it up! I appreciate you all. Thanks for being here.

Sweet and Savory Corn Dip

This is a great snack or appetizer for the family or a party crowd and think of the wonder of it...actually getting friends and family to snack on a vegetable! (That might not be so absurd to some but I'm sure there are others who can relate!) It is an easy-to-make recipe that can be whipped up with very little advance planning since most of the ingredients are common to the kitchen.
The recipe pairs well with chips, crackers, vegetables, and the bread bites that come from the bread bowl, if you choose to serve it that way. The hubby even reports how good it is as a light lunch, with a spoon...when he mistakenly grabbed the corn salad instead of a container of leftovers intended for his lunch.

Budget Decor: Natural Fall Centerpiece

On the Fall Pine Cone Wreath post, I mentioned my intention to use primarily natural elements for this year's Fall decorations. I always make budget-friendly projects (since we live on a budget), so using items I already own and elements we grew in our garden made sense. A welcoming, pretty home is completely doable...even on a budget. So here is my Fall table (for now).

When I started thinking about my table centerpiece, I immediately thought of the gourds I have in abundance because we grow them in our backyard garden.

Welcome!
Hey everybody! I hope you've had a great week. It's been very nice, weather-wise, here in Kentucky, and we are thankful. There were some days this summer that brought us to the verge of melting, so we're ready for the change. Unfortunately, this transitional time has been hard for some...my heart aches for the folks in the West dealing with the aftermath of wildfires and the ongoing flooding, and, as if natural disasters aren't enough, tragedy strikes folks at the Navy Yard in DC. When things like these occur, like so many of us, I try to hug my loved ones a little tighter, hold them a little longer, and I pray a little harder, too.

On to other, happier matters, last week's party was another smashing success; thank you for making it so!  I am enjoying the range of projects that coincide with the seasons change. I noticed on some parties there are already Christmas items popping up! Eek! My first thoughts are usually, "I'm not ready!" Nevertheless, Christmas is only 98 days away and, when you make the gifts - as we do - that doesn't leave much time. However, I hope it does inspire us to be jolly before 'most everyone else. I think it's time we get in that festive mood now...and get this party hopping! So without further ado....Link Up!!

Caramel Apple Pie Cookies

I love the look of these cookies...the lattice tops and golden apple filling are like personal apple pies. Great anytime, but I especially think they're perfect for Fall coffee breaks, and talk about a perfect sweet snack for game-day gatherings. Not only are they cute, but they are really EASY-to-make, too! There are only 3 ingredients...no flour, no eggs, not even a mixer for these apple treats! So let's grab our cookie sheets and make a batch or two!

Cheesy Baked Frito Casserole

This easy-to-make recipe is quick enough for a weeknight meal, and still perfect for those game-day gatherings, too.
Around our house, anyway, a chili-type recipe just screams school-in-session/ football time of year. It can be easily adjusted to meet your family's mild-to-spicy preferences, too.

Welcome to Rock 'N Share #58!

I don't know if this is dog days of summer but we're having another hot streak and all the Fall exuberance I had has melted for now. I'm back to ice-cold beverages and don't-get-the-kitchen-hot recipes...it's hard to believe we had a period of chili and cider weather last week.

The Rock 'N Share is really starting to rock. Your projects received the most views of any party since the Rock 'N Share return. You should really be seeing the benefits of the traffic now. Thank you for partying with me each week! You are appreciated!

Pine Cone Wreath for Fall : How To

It is amazing to me that, when school and football season started, the weather actually began to change here in Kentucky. It is supposed to get down to 50° tonight. We love it when we can turn off the air conditioning and open the windows. I don't want to rush Fall; I know it is still 17 days away, but I'm glad we're getting some cooler temps. All of these changes put me in the mood to start crafting Fall decorations. This year's decorations focus on natural elements like pine cones and gourds; it helps that I have a couple bags of them lying around.

Thanks, Everyone! Your contributions made another Rock 'N Share a great success! There really is something for everyone at the party! I love that we are an eclectic bunch, sharing everything from sewing projects to canning tips!
Thank you for being here and making this so fun and worthwhile! I appreciate you!

I've noticed that recipes are changing from lemonades to ciders and the projects are going from flowery creations to pine cones and pumpkins; you can tell that in just 19 days, Fall arrives. The autumn season brings shortening days, cooler nights, raking leaves, and (at The Porch, anyway) preparing for the approaching holidays! So I wondered if any of you would be interested in doing a guest post here at The Porch? I was thinking of having one guest post each month until the New Year...October, November, & December.  I am looking for Holiday-themed Recipes and Crafts! Let me know via email (see bottom of page) if you are interested!  Depending on the level of interest, I may even schedule more in 2014!
